All across our landscape remnants of the past are embedded into the terrain as fragments. Years of human and non-human interaction wear the fragments down creating something new in the process. Sharp edges are smoothed, colors change, new shapes take form, the whole is reduced to its parts. Collecting these items has been an important practice for both of us. It is a habit of finding something and seeing in it the beauty of the world, witnessing it, cherishing it.
Here the objects are suspended, inviting you to step closer and see them outside their usual context. The grid acts as a structure, a web, a new landscape. With these elements combined, resting on delicate beads, a sense of magic starts to emerge. A magic familiar to our youth – the freedom that allows us to turn trees into castles and mud into birthday cakes. A sense that can be reawakened by recognizing the abundant wonder around us.
